Im shooting a savage 14 in 308 that's shoots dead nuts all day at 200 yards. So I moved out to 300 and cant put a bullet in a 18 by 18 target WHY does that caliber run out of gas that fast. oh and im shooting win. power points 150 grain

308 power points

Hi im headed to Colorado for first season rifle elk hunt. My question is are 308 Winchester power points 150 grain enough to take down a bull elk.Ive shot many other bullets and none shoot as well in my savage 14 as the power points do.Please let me know your thoughts.

Why only one?

Where at north of steamboat springs ......I will be in the clark area first rifle season.My guess is that the herds are being broken up with hunting pressure but who knows
