Take a kid to camp with you and make it their job to catch the mice. kids belong in elk camp even before they are old enough to carry a rifle and hunt.
Lots of wolves and heavy outfitter use in a small area. Winter kill was heavy in the late 90s and like all of units 10 and 12, to much hunting pressure from everything for a good rebound.
WW II GI pack board, prefer my elk quartered and packed out, I never bone out. I use bed sheets from the goodwill. Wrap your quarters up tight and they will stay clean and flies cannot blow through the material. Tie them on 1 at a time, nice and tight, and you can haul an elk out of anywhere.

I have the 1.5 hp Cabela's grinder. I grind around 500 plus lbs a year, and it is everything I could want. Unless you do a large amount of meat ( couple elk and deer a yr. ), you don't need this much power though.
