You want to see hate.

I wasn't searching for your honey hole. Just putting a place with the time - which I reckoned to be closer to 30 yds bp than 20.

Did your buddy shoot his .25-20 deer with a commercial jacketed bullet or cast lead and what was so unsatifactory about the result?

My name is Brent, not Barney Fife... Trust me on that.

Jacketed bullet and IIRC, the shot was around 50 yards. The deer didn't go far after the first shot, but stood there for a quite a long time before my buddy shot it again. I think with the lower velocity rounds, there isn't much bullet expansion, very little shock, and it just takes a while for them to die.

The wound channel from the .22 magnum was much better than the 25/20.

But, I would rank them about the same in effectiveness on deer in the small sample of 2.

My dads 06 cost him $5, back in the late 1930s. Lots of my dads friends and family had these guns and they were customized to become their gun of choice. My brother still has it and I have an uncles 06 that was turned into a 30 Gibbs. Another family member has one that was rechambered to a 25AI.
