Hello fellas, this is my first hunt to Wyoming and unit 7 as well. Looking for any info on...

1. places to camp, New Castle?
2. hunting pressure or parcels to avoid or go to
3. thoughts on the unit itself
4. anything you might think would be helpful to know

Thanks to all!

You can camp on any BM land, but not on state property. New Castle is the nearest town like you mentioned if you want to motel it and you can google the available places to reserve room(s) ASAP, especially if you plan to hunt the opening week, which many do. I suggest you wait until the second week unless you already have your dates set in stone. If you already have plans to hunt the opener, I'd also suggest you get there a day or two before the season opens to scout and be sitting on a good buck at daylight opening day. 7 is a popular unit with WIHAs that can get a lot of pressure, so be aware of that.

I'll be passing thru Newcastle on my way to Douglas. Take 450 over to Wright and then 387 over to Midwest and down to Douglas. Longer but less monotonous. The drive down 59 from Wright to Douglas is blah. An interesting sight is the humongous wind farm just behind the Dave Johnston power plant to the east between Casper and Douglas. I can see the turbines from the place where I hunt. If I get done early we might slip over to Yellowstone.
