Wyoming Bison hunt

Happy to hear you didn't go with Tag N Drag !!
Congrats, hang him for at least 14 days.

And by the way the refuge hunts are not like a ranch hunt if there is deep snow, hardest hunt I've ever done was my last cow bison from the refuge.

Moyle Mink and Tannery did our 3 cow bison hides and they turned out great, good price on tanning too. You'll have to flesh and salt it though, not hard to do actually.

Enjoy your trophy and the meat !!

The refuge is huge. So I made a huge generalization about it being “a ranch hunt”. I’m sure it would have been just as awesome. Just my first guided hunt and I wanted it to be on Forest. Even if I was hunting the boundary.

Good to know about the tanning. I’ve looked at a few places. I’ll only be doing the back half of the hide. But it’s still huge. Would fit over a twin bed.

Can I ask about why no tag and drag? If it’s personal you could DM. I believe you are a fellow Laramie resident if I’ve seen a bunch of your posts in the past. I could be mistaken though.

Congrats. Great recap.

I may never go another big game hunt as am mid-60s though a bighorn ram tag or a bison tag in my hand would make it very difficult for me to stay home. Both are so iconic for America big game along with the pronghorn.

I haven’t been bitten by the sheep bug. But I would 100% go on another wild bison hunt in a heartbeat.

Congrats! I did mine DIY about seven years ago and had a great time, but those boundaries are super stressful. I saw one on the forest side pretty close to where you got yours the first day I hunted in October and had no idea how rare that can be.

I used tag-n-drag to haul mine out and know Ralph personally. I have only heard others say good things about them, but maybe others have had a bad experience.

I spoke with Ralph multiple times. He seemed like a great guy and would work for his clients. The refuge is what turned me the other direction. It’s a lot of meat in predator territory. I don’t have enough friends or family to do diy.
