World Cup 2026 starting today

Watched Mexico/ Ecuador last night.
Good to see Mexico move forward after 40 years.
Substantial amount of thuggery on both sides, seemed to me. Flipside im getting a little over the flopping drama.
You want to play rough, then toughen up.
Enjoying it all nonetheless. Hoping for Mexico/ England.

Major grit post-red, that set piece goal was one of the best goals for the US in decades. I can’t remember a bigger one since Donovan vs Algeria.

Only gets harder from here. One more win and this will have been a great showing for the US.

Lukaku saves Belgium in a big way. Scorers gonna score.

Now we get them on 7/6 in Seattle hoping to avoid a similar result to the friendly played in March where Belgium roared back in the second half with three goals in 15 minutes to take the 5-2 win.

I can now say I watched my first ever 20-minutes of a soccer game.
Looked like a cool atmosphere.
Did the guy on the USA really get kicked out for a game and a half for stepping on another guy's foot?
The number of catastrophic injuries I witnessed (for them to later hop right up and run full speed down the field) was super impressive.

I watched the US game on telemundo, my only free access. I recognized three words after two years of Spanish in high school - Richard, Feldman and Goaaaaaaaaaaaal!

Just gonna say it. VAR is out of control. They are supposed to check clear errors. Its become they are reffing and on the fields they are just refs being controlled and deferring. Croatia got shafted twice and now goes home

They are also inconsistent and don't touch the big names. Red card on USA, probably right call, but Messi does almost same fould and nothing.

Tonight VAR calls pk for something that happens on every corner kick. Then Ronaldo CLEARLY stops in the pk run up which should be a retake. But nothing. That was black and white

Red card on USA was bullchit.

Just back from an international forum lockout and haven’t read the whole thread, but has anyone complained about these hydration breaks yet? Or are we just so acclimated to spending three hours watching commercials during a one hour game (US FB) that the commercial breaks are hardly noticeable?

Was a little bummed that the DRC didn’t hold their lead against England the other day. Otherwise, allez les bleus!

Hydration breaks are a joke and LOTS of people complained. There are a few hit spits, but not that bad. They are a money grab phrased as player safety. They are turning it into 4 quarters and allowing coaches to regroup teams and shift tactics. Many games have seen huge momentum swings at those breaks

Not to start an argument but how was that NOT a red card, studs gown down the calf and achilles and bend the ankle 90 degrees, then step on it. It was not intentional, but intent has nothing to do with it
