I am thinking about heading somewhere warm this winter and have zero experience outside of AZ. Havre is not exactly a great place to impress someone in February, so I am thinking something in the Carribean would be a better choice.

Anyone have any thoughts as to a get-a-way that would include diving/sea kayaking/etc and won't break my weak bank account?

February? How about the Expo in Salt Lake? I don't think the lake freezes up in the winter, so you could probably do some diving and kayaking. And who wouldn't be impressed with the awesome taxidermy display at the Expo?

Never been there but I heard from a lot of people Costa Rica is real nice. I think not terribly expensive either

I've never done those things there, but what about Florida? It may be cheaper than the Carribean. I've gone to Mexico and Hawaii, and I'd choose Maui, Kauai or the Big Island. I've never been to the Carribean, so have no suggestions there.

Annually my bride makes it a point to leave this country either in January or February. My favorite places to play in the sun: Cabo San Lucas (It is an easy connection from Billings BIL to SEATAC - SEATAC to Cabo) Costa Rica is fantastic also especially I hear for single guys, Jamaica as long as you stay on the resort and go all inclusive, Grand Cayman is okay. Cabo still remains my favorite.

Getting out of Montana is a pain in the ass when going somewhere tropical. It's almost a guarantee that the Caribbean is going to be +1 day traveling both to and fro.

You can do some Mexican destinations with a singles day travel though. The Riviera Maya is relatively inexpensive and would offer those thing you are looking for with good beaches for Axl to run on. However, you may be starting to run into spring breaking crowds which may or may not be to your scantily clad liking.

When we went to the Caribbean in 2006 Jamaica was the most economical place to go. We stayed at an all inclusive where the food was incredible, activities were readily available (wind surfing, kayaks, small catamarans all available without cost), and kids were not allowed (a big plus for us, not having screaming hellians doing cannonballs into the pool while you are trying to enjoy your umbrella-accessorized cocktail at the swim up bar at 8:25 am). No, it wasn't a Hedonism/nudist resort, just adults only... not that that kept the Euro's from strutting around nude on the beach.

Pretty sure the girl would not be that impressed. I am running out of wall space and she did not seem interested in hanging some stuff at her place.

We have both been to Florida at different times and she is not interested since she was there last year.

I will check out Cabo, thanks. That being said, if I take Terry's advise and head to the SLC Expo, Costa Rica will probably be in the cards for me next year.:hump::D

Gracias, I will check into those places. No beaches for Axl, he will most likely be in doggy jail for this trip.

On a more serious note, I sent you a couple of emails to your work acct.

Personally, I like Mexico. Cabo is nice and safety isnt an issue. On the Caribbean side, I do like the Riviera Maya though I know some people say it is too commercial. I like the white sand beaches the Caribbean has to offer. We're looking at Turks & Caicos at the moment but it isnt cheap. On a budget, Costa Rica (Rouatan), Dom Republic, & Jamaica are your best bets. The Bahamas might be cheaper too. Have fun!

I vote Cabo. Diving, fishing and the night clubs. If you go, do the booze cruise before you hit the clubs. It was cheap and alot of fun. Didn't get to go this year. Alaska hit the pocketbook too hard.

Cabo would be a good choice, went there this summer for our honeymoon, expensive but fun.
The fishing that time of year should be great also. My wife loved going out and catching a marlin, during the winter you should be able to catch alot of tuna and other game fish also.

You will have so much fun in Mehico. Can't hardly go wrong. If you are a water weiner like myself the Caribean side didn't beat me up as much as the Pacific side. Done the Riviera Maya and Puerto Nuevo. Never fished or anything. Just soaked up sun and tipped them back.

What sucks is stepping off that plane back here to 20 degree temps.
