Will Congress intervene to stop wolf reintro?

The reality is whatever they "jam" through can be reversed. I fully support people getting involved with state senators and such, but they also might want to get involved in the vetting process in the primaries. Get the candidates on the record regarding the mess at the commission. This is hard for some to believe, but Democrats and Independents hunt too. Don't count on flipping the Governor's seat. Progress is certainly slow, and unfortunately most people get disinterested quickly.
Correct. While it is technically possible to reverse things, I would say history tells us it’s much more difficult to get something back once it’s lost. As you stated, people just lose interest. The most troubling part of Polis’ war on hunting and angling has been the remaking of the commission, packed with anti-hunting activists.

It is my understanding that CRWM has been engaging with all the gubernatorial candidates to ensure we have a voice. Unlike the previous admin, where hunters and anglers were completely excluded from wildlife management and appointments, by design.

Good reminder to throw some money their direction during this season of consum…. err I mean, giving.

Nothing untrue. Also true, you will never change anything with a defeatist attitude.
I'm pragmatic. I have been around enough, lived in every major portion of this country (SE, West coast, East coast, IMW, Midwest and SE) and Europe enough to realize what just is......It would be wonderful if there was any foreseeable, decent path forward for CO but given what has happened with the population and the resulting elections (regardless of one's personal belief it should be noted that at the same time the "people" voted to reintroduce and covet wolves they also voted for the most grotesque abortion law in the US.......until the literal moment of exit from the womb) I don't see any reasonable possibility of that. There are plenty of places and fights in the US that are there to protect and have. The people who were reasonable centrists/left leaning have allowed the left's flavor (I do NOT ignore morons on the other side either....eg Boobert) of nuts to run their asylum here......

I can see how Colorado state government could really get you down. The General Assembly and many of the boards/commissions are a compete crazy train. Everything from dismantling private property rights, limiting freedom of speech, to the non stop anti-gun legislation. Word on the street is the CO Dems in the legislature are lining up a NFA items-suppressor ban in the next session. It’s a lot to handle.

However, wildlife management and hunting/angling is the one area I do have some hope. There has been a pretty consistent backlash against what the Polis admin has done. We have seen that in the overwhelming defeat of Prop 127 and the Denver fur and meat packing bans. Additionally many folks are unhappy with the wolf reintroduction disaster.

CRWM has had success in activating many hunters and anglers. I believe many of the gubernatorial candidates have taken notice.

I hope whomever is the next Governor kicks DNR Director Spineless Dan Gibbs to the curb. He fashioned himself as a friend to the “outdoors” community then enabled Polis-Reis to completely disenfranchise the sportsmen community. One of the positive things I can say about former CPW Director Jeff Davis is that he was likely terminated because he was considered too friendly to the sportsmen and ranching community by Polis-Reis and their activists pals.

This was signaled by Director Prenzlow's firing over a supposedly racist utterance. I know Prenzlow. What he saw coming but couldn't officially confront (without losing his position and ability to defend his agency and the resource, to which he was supremely loyal, irony noted) is manifesting. It is my strong sense that most Coloradans want science-based wildlife management that includes a strong legacy of hunting. Opposition to that is funded and energized primarily from elsewhere. We had to unite to defeat 127, we have to speak with that united voice to our next candidates for Governor. We must speak with not only political voter support, also from the values of connection to and participation in wild Colorado through fishing and hunting. That is where I'm aiming much effort in 2026.

Same. What they did to Prenzlow was a crime. I suspect Jeff Davis was in a similar situation. He was facing immense pressure from the Governor’s office on the wolf issue. It will be interesting to see who they hire next. The core Prop 127 folks have reflagged, reorganized, and rearmed to go full bore over the next 12 months. Those same folks keep making it into the final slate for commission appointees and yet DU, RMEF, RMBS, BHA, etc can’t seem to get a single person or recommendation through. Weird.

It is also important that hunters show up to commission meetings in full force during this period. Keep apprised of the meeting agenda. Provide thoughtful public comment when able. Following CRWM social media is a great way to keep up to date.

Yeah.....and it is going to get worse. I have been here 17 years and the truth is that this state is lost unless there is a large reversal of migration. As with many of the larger liberal states, the votes are concentrated in a couple of urban/suburban areas which are very disconnected to the larger geographic portions of the states and issues like hunting. The liberal policies with regard to wildlife "management" are not EVER going to be in favor of hunting and Colorado allowing these things to be decided by voters directly instead of actual wildlife managers amplifies that. There are a lot of outdoor related policies that have flex between the 2 "sides" but hunting is NOT one of them. Folks who decide to vote Democrat and hunt have to think seriously about that, the way conservatives have to weigh the use of public lands.
Well, when the GOP has folks like this running….

The gop in this state is full of unelectable loons. But tribal identity politics would win the day no matter who they put on the ticket. This state is a wreck. Stuck between the anti-hunting anti-gun big D at the state level and the anti-conservation anti-science anti-public lands maga R at the federal level. Good times. I need to drift west a few miles this week and look for chukar. Too much time inside lately.

To the thread, post 5 captures the near-term implications imo. 10J would go away, the cease and desist from USFWS would be moot, and CPW could resume getting wolves from BC without headache.

Congress is terrified of offending either end of the extremist fringe.
Much bigger issue is how useful Republicans think the issue is.

Why fix it...when its so useful politically?

One house passing something while knowing the other won't....part of the game.

The GOP in this state is a mess......but this whack job isn't someone that the party has anything to do with. Anyone can run, and he proves it. Marx is the probable candidate. I have met him and he is a good man......he has done some pretty incredible stuff. The Dem's answer? Weiser who is off HIS rocker or Bennet who is the embodiment of "political recycle". It makes zero difference in this state, at this point the Dems could run a chocolate covered rock and it would win.

As opposed to the Dems rubbing their noses at their OWN primaries and "installing" who they thought was politically expedient in the last 2 presidential elections? If THEY had wanted something even remotely reasonable Tulsi Gabbard would have been president......and the whole denying Biden was incompetent for a couple of years as least leading to handing a "nomination" to Harris? Currently, both parties are horrible. The place to start is term limits and preventing political service from being profitable. FFS, look at how elected officials net worth skyrockets when they "serve".
