Who’s Prepping?

I have 2 weeks of dinners ready for September Colorado deer and elk hunting.
Then 2 weeks later I have 11 dinners ready for Idaho Frank Church hunting.
I must like punishment.

Cooked up a bunch of bighorn stroganoff and Mt Goat bourguignon and Elk Lasagna and froze into 1 or 2 person meals.

Next up deer and pronghorn red chile and "elkderlope" green chile.

And then a pile of breakfast burritos. To the Bfast burrito fans I must add, fry those suckers in bacon fat when about to eat them. holy smokes, GREAT!

I need to learn how to freeze dry my own food gotta be better than mountain house for the pack trips for elk coming up.

Yeah I need to learn how to freeze dry food also. It would save a ton of money that’s for sure.

@duckslayer are those Bfast burritos for the goat pack or a truck camp?

about to do a llama-powered elk hunt first time so sorting out what I might do 'extra' I would not carry on my back without livestock.

With llamas those could be steak burritos for both the hike and camp.. 😅 good luck on that hunt that would be so cool. Half the problem with walking that far into good spots is knowing the pack out is brutal.

Yes for taking with on goats. That’s the beauty of goats. I have to eat the for the first couple days than there thawed out. I usually eat them for supper on the first 3 nights I’m out. Wrap them in my sleeping bag during the day to make them last longer.
