I’ve seen several threads over the years on knee replacements. I thought I would share my experience. I had my surgery yesterday, My Doc used a lateral procedure (coming in through the side, without cutting the quad or the quad tendon). The recovery time is supposed to be 1/2 of convention tkr’s. So far it has been remarkably easy on me. I did it in Nashville at an outpatient surgical clinic (3.5 hrs. from home). I checked in at 7 am and was home by 5 pm. I’ve heard of so many horror stories from tkr surgery, both parents have had both done (Dad at the same time). If this is truly start to finish easier, I thought it should be passed along. I just got back from my morning hangout for breakfast, believe it or not, drove myself (left knee, not on pain meds yet).
