Whitetail Buck of a Lifetime

I’ve never been much of a score guy but my buddy taped him at low 150s.

Interesting numbers here... it appears two thirds of dudes have killed bucks between 140 and 200.

For comparison, this buck was under 140

Most memorable bucks seem to be in the 140/150 class.

Have another 160" but couldn't find a pic quickly. Lots of 140" stuff, but can't seem to make it to the sacred 170" mark.

You can’t kill what’s not in your area. You have to keep that in mind.

My personal best at 152 and 3/8 both of his G 3s are 13 inches. He had 4 tines over 11 inches.
Not bad considering the small acreage I have access to is surrounded by Amish!

I have only ever killed a couple of whiteys mainly because I have never had any on public land in the areas that I hunt. Last year I went to a new area and figured you have to start somewhere and I killed this buck. I can't remember the score, it wasn't much. It probably won't be my last whitetail.

I do have one that might be a bit bigger but this is my favorite. Got him in 2016 with my bow from the ground in Oklahoma.

Thanks Ron! Some monsters in this thread. Also agree with the comment someone made about you can only get what is available where you hunt.

Here are some of our better bucks. It's been more difficult to find the real giants in recent years with seemingly more hunting pressure. I anticipate it's going to get worse coming up with our shotgun-only zone getting opened up to rifles next year.

A little over 28" inside spread. Widest one we've gotten.


Another wide one at 23" inside.


One of my favorites with the double throat patch.




Unfortunately, the poachers beat us to this one. It would've been one of the easiest good ones for us to kill had they not killed it. It seemingly never left our property for any significant amount of time from 3.5 years old until the day it was killed.
