I would like to know when most people see the majority of their elk sightings and what type of hunt(archery/rifle/muzzle). I hunt the mid oct, rifle season and see almost 99% of my elk in the am or mid afternoon. rarely will I see an elk in the evening. I really havent figured that out either. any clues fellas?

I typically do more glassing in the evening so I tend to see more animals in the evening just before dusk. Seem to hear more action in the morning. I've actually had more success in the afternoon. Early archery almost pre rut I've had the most success on tanks in evenings. But I really don't think they're more or less active in the am or pm. More dumb luck. Seen lots of big bulls taken from guys who stuck with the herd and moved with them during mid day. Probably has more to do with your hunting style and if you're on animals than what the animals do.

I would tend to see the most elk either at first light or around 10am. Sometimes I'd catch them up around one. Spend enough time in the woods and you'll see them at all times of day
