What were dealing with in WA

The permit is not required to use the gun, but just to buy one. Correct? Is a permit/drivers license required to buy a car?
Dumb question. How can a person use a gun without first buying a gun? Manufacture the gun yourself? If I'm unable to purchase a gun, I no longer have my 2nd amendment rights. And yes I will be moving to another state before this law goes into effect.

My kids use guns all the time and not a one of those little leeches have ever purchased a gun.

BTW, I am in agreement with you that the law is foolish.

Yes, to anyone who doesn't get the required firearm training, get fingerprinted, etc.

Which I will not do. I've been shooting and hunting for 50 years. I'm not going to go through the expense and process of getting a permit that allows me to exercise my 2nd amendment rights and buy a gun so I can go hunting.
So not illegal to buy a gun. Just have to follow the rules. Big difference. Don't want to play along? Buy before the rules change.

I don't really need any new guns. I have a safe full of guns. But I refuse to live in a state that won't allow me to purchase a new gun whenever I want to. You also have to realize this new law will make it more difficult to sell the guns I do have. I'm really surprised any hunter would support this. I guess if you like it, move here.

Didn't say I liked it. I agree it's crap. I live in Illinois so I'm already hammered with crap gun laws. But I manage. You could too. You're overreacting to a future situation that could be changed before it even goes into effect.

But I know things in this state are only going to get worse. There are many other issues besides gun rights. I'll soon be living in Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming. Was already wanting to move anyway. Only thing I'm really waiting for now that I'm retired, is my daughter has one year of high school left.

''But based on the logic expressed in your comment, it's also illegal to drive a car."

Driving a car is not a right guaranteed by our constitution.
100%, and there's absolutely a very valid complaint therein. But it's also not illegal to buy a gun. You just need a permit, like driving a car. Which is why I used the analogy.

I get why people leave. This State doesn't appeal to everyone, just like Texas doesn't appeal to everyone. I hope you find a happy landing spot. I find I enjoy exploring ID the most, WY has the best hunting, but MT is the purdiest.

Well I consider it illegal now with this new law. How many people are going to waste their time and money going to a firearm training course? Maybe young people who are just getting into shooting and/or hunting. But we already have hunter education, why a separate requirement for learning to shoot a gun in order to buy one? I sure don't know many people my age who are going to be willing to go through a firearm training course. And, it's not just a one time thing. You have to renew it every five years.

Great article on the recent study coming out regarding the problems with mainly our fish and wildlife commission in Wa State. The study found they are dysfunctional which is the least that can be said. There is so much fighting over agenda of anti-hunting its not funny.

Gofigure the advocacy director of Washington Wildlife first, dont le the name fool you they are anti-hunting and the biggest pushers of turing washington into a preservationist state. He is qouted as saying he is disapointed in th ereport that says that animal rights groups have an outsized influence on the commission. Thats because they do and they let them talk more than others by flooding the commission with out of state over the phone and webs speaking times.

Personally as one helping the fight on this, I find this article and research a huge step forward. As someone that grew up in WA you never had to worry about the commission because they were always on the side of managing for hunting and fishing. They had your back as a sportsman. Then within the last 5 years they have absolutely turned 180 degrees and we have to be at every meeting fighting to keep things like bear and cougar hunting alive. This is the same commission that did away with spring bear even with all the WDFW scientists saying that if anything the number of permits should have been increased.

Give it a read and watch out in your state its a widespread process being inacted to take your hunting priveldges away by those who only want you to agree with their way of thinking.
unreal

I definitely disagree. We've backed away from electric ferries, we've effectively ditched most of the climate change shooting-ourselves-in-the-foot policies, he restricted his own "Emergency" powers that Inslee expanded, and is pushing for no new taxes to offset our budget deficit, while still supporting another $100 million for law enforcement. I think we got damn lucky that Ferguson isn't anywhere close to Inslee.
Also...
Michael Jean, litigation counsel for the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation. “As a result of our previous records request and litigation discovery, we have major concerns that the corruption of the Fish and Wildlife Commission runs deeper than we initially suspected. These new records requests will bring to light any misconduct with respect to wildlife management at Washington’s highest level of government. Washington sportsmen deserve to know just how bad things are.”
But I will agree that this newest law is dumb, and I hope it's repealed or found to be illegal (which is pretty real posibility).

Looks like ferguson signed the biggest tax hike washington has ever seen.......

If you don’t tax income, you have to tax other things. I’m not sure the “perfect” solution, but I’m sure someone’s going to be upset with whatever is done.
98 percent increase in taxes since 2013 for washington someone should be upset. Then the fact that ferguson went back on his i don't want to increase tax gives you a sign of what's to come for everything else. He flip flops like the orange man

98% seems like fun with numbers. I looked at the bills listed in the article you posted and don't have a serious problem with them. Again, when the people are adamantly opposed to income taxes and instead rely on consumption taxes, you are eventually going to run into trouble because the inflows aren't going to match the expenses. As prices go up, people buy less (quick check shows sales tax rev went from $11.4B in 2011 to $14.4B in 2022).

I seem some materially differences between the two politicians. One flipped his position on new taxes and made some material cuts in expenditures to balance the budget (as required by statute and also in the face of reduced Federal funds), which seems like what people want. The other is supporting a budget that makes the federal deficit larger. Try to image if the Federal government was required to have a balanced budget.

I encourage people to run for office if they have better ideas.

We will see how this line changes when updated.

I'm definitely not thrilled, but it could be worse. Inslee wouldn't have cut any spending. I would like to hear what he has to say regarding his change in course. Was it a matter of vetoing but realizing that the state D's had a veto-proof majority, thus he would have burned his collaborative bridge with the majority party of the legislature? Not that I think that's a necessary an acceptable excuse, but I do think he owes me an explanation.
