What else are you into?

I enjoy spending lots of time with my family.

We're getting into horses now. My daughter bought her 1st horse just about a week ago and we're looking for a 2nd horse right now.

I didn't realize there was time for anything else besides hunting and fishing? You guys must live in pretty boring places. :D

I guess in my spare time I'm prepping to do one or the other.

I do a bit of smoking and meat curing on the side, but only to supplement my rations for hunting or fishing trips.

It seems like we're always trying something new so we can keep some common interests with the kids.

This summer it's gold mining. At first I really didn't want to give it a try.

We bought a used sluice and a gold pan.

We live in historical gold country, but I assumed they quit mining because it was all gone.

We spent an afternoon giving it a go.

Digging and classifying into a 5 gallon bucket.

My seven year old then runs it through the sluice box.

After about 10 buckets of material we checked the sluice.

Gold! Way more than I expected.

I genuinely got excited and since spent a full half day of digging. We're up to about a 10th of ounce. It's all fine stuff, but there are some bigger ones found often in that area.

My wife is not into the hunting but enjoys shooting and fishing. Outside of that I do things that we can do together. She is getting me into wines. For her birthday this coming December, I have a mobile wine show/tasting event planned to come to our house. We play tennis and golf every now and then, or I should say hit balls around with a racket or club. Reading and sometimes I read college textbooks for fun mostly medical or psychology. Grilling and smoking meats has become something that we both enjoy also. MN Twins or Mankato Moondogs baseball games and college hockey games are events we go to when funds and time allows.

I'm getting into this now too....

In the spring I help coach HS girls softball. Tried skydiving for the first time 2 weeks ago. What a rush!! First step is kinda steep but when the chute opens gets very quiet and peaceful. What a ride.

Daaag, Jryoung, I've been told I need to get a life, now I believe it!

The last couple of years I have laid down the gun and picked up the camera. With the regular job taking most of my time, any spare time I have, consists of photography. Most of which are wildlife and landscape.
The last couple of months I have got more serious about my running. Road or trail, preferably trail. It's almost to the point of an addiction. It is actually cutting into my photography time.
Photography time in the woods is like having open season for everything, year round.
I just wish I lived a little closer to the western states!
I would like to share a few pics but in respect to Jry I'll just post the one.

Maybe one day If I take the time, I'll post a few pics on a different thread. You can check them out at http://www.robertwebbphotography.com/. I'm not sure how well you smartphone users can view the pics, thats something I need to check into.
