What does a Trillion Dollars look like?

Even though the system is what is broke; it's easier to fix problems at the individual level if anyone gives a damn.

I'd say that fixing one or even 50 systems is much easier than fixing things on the individual (read: millions) level. The individual levels, and taking them into consideration are what has left us with these hundreds of thousands (probably more) of loose ends.

The inefficiency of fixing things on the individual level is only surpassed by what our government (largely) does now: Not fixing things on the individual or system level.

The easiest way to fix this broke ass system, IMHO, is to blow it up and start from scratch. If you reduce many people's benefits, I suspect some of them will feel well enough suddenly--it's a MIRACLE!--to get off the public teat.

Whether or not you're for any level of public aid, in any form, there will always be many with a legitimate need. And this country, while it stands, will always offer assistance--to its benefit and to its detriment.

Perhaps fixing things on either level is little more than a pipe dream, but most of our problems in this country are brought about by a overall degeneration of the moral fiber of our citizens, contributed to in great part by that very system in question. This all goes back to increased government interference in states rights, increased incursions into that part of peoples lives which in years past required people to suck it up and do the best they could or rely on help from family members. Roosevelt and too many more like him who have come along since have yet to understand that we can't all have a 3 bedroom home with two car garage, beautiful wife and kids, good job which provides for the good life and three weeks of vacation plus 13 holidays. There are always some who get bad breaks in life, have no skills, decreased mental capacity and a plethora of reasons why we can't all be the same. Where does it say in our constitution that the workers of our nation deserve equal pay or opportunities? Non-performers deserve to live the lives which their efforts provide for. If the bear doesn't get out and turn over and shred the rotten log, he doesn't eat. Why should people be any different? So the system has contributed to a society of freeloaders, ne'er-do-wells and scabs on the butt of society which must be fixed on the individual level; the system can only make things worse.
