As close as he is to the house just invite him in for dinner. Just don't tell him what's on the menu.

I'd just be patient and wait until he got up and then see if I got a proper shot. But, that's just me.

That shot is as good as it gets and close range if you know anatomy. It is a NO PASS opportunity in the field.

Dark spot on bottom of ear. But I would likely wait for him to get up if he remains calm and would only shoot in this position if he was getting agitated and looked like he was about to leap and run.
