So, last night my wife said she wishes sometimes she could just go someplace warm for a few days. Having just seen Randy's hunt in Arizona, I jokingly threw out the idea that next year we could go to Arizona, and I could hunt while she does her thing. Much to my amazement, she bit! Of course I don't know if this could work logistically, but just curious what other opportunities there are for warm weather hunting around January (DIY, Public land)? Is it realistic to find a place to hunt semi-near a place where a wife would like to spend time?

Randy...thank you for putting crazy ideas in my head that aren't so crazy for my wife :)

Over the holidays we visit mt wifes family in Georgia. They live near Athens but a little further south would be good hog hunting on the wma's. Near Savanah is some of the best public land hog hunting in the south and the town has got a ton of shops, tours, restaurants etc. That may be an option as well as similar towns and opportunities for hogs across the gulf states to Louisianna. Deer would still be an option that time of year but may be a tough hunt on public land by that point in the season. Its not like a western hunt but the proximity to major towns made me think about it.

Most wives would like southern Arizona in January. Especially given there is so much hunting to keep their husbands out of their hair while they do something they enjoy.
