Ukraine / Russia

Certainly doesn't appear so. Which really leaves the West in an awkward position, and Ukraine in a really shitty position where the only direction is down and the only variable is how fast.

Russia has already lost. Its nose has been bloodied and the real state of its military is clear for all to see. There is no way he avoids a long-term unpopular battle against a motivated insurgency even if he takes Ukraine. He pushed Finland into the lap of NATO. His only angle spinning any win out of a clear loss is to push a bit of a wedge between Turkey and NATO.

Sanctions really don't work when there's no enforcement. How did high tech French components make it into Russian tanks when they were banned from buying them years ago?

Ok. But in this case a Russian loss seems to also equate to a Ukraine loss, and a loss for the "West". Taiwan also has to be viewed as a loser. The only two winners are China and Russian political/business elite which are poised to gain more assets through corruption resulting from this conflict.
