Turkey in ocala national forest?

I'll be heading to leesburg, Florida to visit the grandparents at their snowbird residency. Thought I might be able to turkey hunt a day or two while there. The ocala seems like the closest open land to hunt. Never hunted south of Tennessee for anything. So any info would be great!

Goethe state forest is just west of ocala. lots o turkeys there

You would need a permit to hunt there tho. There were leftovers last year

What kind of terrain are we talking in these areas?

Planted pines, palmettos, swamps , oak thickets, sandhills. 85 degrees and plenty of bugs

Old people driving Buicks scare me more than snakes and gaters when I've been there.

Used to bears....not so much gators. Deal with snakes a bit while speedgoat hunting. Good info tho. Thanks guys

Something to think of too. can only hunt til 1pm on public land
