It has been a very good spring. Thumbs up type of hunting all the way around.

Here is my opening day bird.

Then I took a guy from Saskatchewan out the next weekend on his first Merriam's turkey hunt.
Here is his first bird.

Here I am with his second bird of the day. It's hard to see it's beard in this photo, but it's over 8 inches. This is a very nice tom and headed for his taxidermist.

Then earlier this week a friend of mine and I snuck off for one more quick hunt. Here's the bird he ended up with. Another beautiful Merriam's tom. It has been a very good spring to say the least.

Kirkl, actually birds 1,3, and 4 all have big near perfect fans. It just wasn't positioned right in the top photo. While we weren't too far from the Missouri river we weren't along the bottoms. More in the river breaks several miles above the river. I have killed a few turkeys along both the Missouri and Yellowstone river bottoms but really prefer to not hunt the bottoms if given a choice. Mostly because so many other hunters like to hunt there, and I prefer less company/competition when I hunt.

Great job guys. Those guys who get there first bird out the gate sure scratch their heads the next time around.... It aint that easy. that is what happened to my son.
