Tundra or Another F-150

That doesn't make sense. First position from off is running lights. 2nd position is headlights and 3rd is auto (hence the A).
Yes, auto on and off. Not just auto dim when meeting another car. That’s controlled by the stalk and can easily be turned on or off even if the lights are set to auto.

So what I’m saying is it’s easier for me to just flick the stalk than have to set the lights to manual on off when you want to turn off the auto dim.
My vehicles default to auto lights at startup. I prefer leaving it there. I drive 4 different vehicles that have the light switch in 4 different places but the headlight stalk is the same.

When I posted I was mostly thinking of my Dad who recently bought his first vehicle with auto lights. He didn’t know he could turn off the auto dim function, as well as several other new things. Maybe some vehicles don’t have the ability to turn off the auto dim with the stalk when the switch is in the auto setting, IDK. Some let you disable permanently in the settings function.

Gotcha. Understand it now.

It's hard to talk in general terms when every vehicle seems to be different. Toyota/Lexus is going away from the auto start stop engine function on some models. I guess it's no longer a requirement for the US market. Maybe it didn't really save any gas.

Also, on some of the newer Toyota/Lexus, the auto dim headlight function works in both the auto and manual light switch modes. The end of my headlight stalk has a switch to turn off the auto dim if I don't want it on, or I can go into my settings and turn the function off altogether. I can even adjust the sensitivity of the camera that decides when to turn the brights back on, but have never messed with it.

Takes only seconds to disable auto stop on my 2020. The only time I turn it back on is when towing and have the light harness plugged in.

Bottom pin connector on the connector panel, left side of the brake pedal. Everything works without out it plugged in, except trailer turn signals and maybe trailer brake lights.

Yep....I did this in the first week. Youtube was my friend.

I'd say get a Tundra as long as you get the older V8.
Ended up getting a Nissan Titan SV V8 4WD. Got a deal on it I could not turn down. Only issue is that damn tailgate. Lock intermittently fails to open so working on getting dealer to fix that.

Congrats on the titan. I've heard good things about them. Tough to pass up a good deal!

I didnt realize the tailgate locks on my Frontier. Great...see how long that functions with daily gravel roads and dust.

Not familiar with the Tundra models.
After selling my business, kept a F350 SD. With diesel prices climbing and still low miles (119000), thinking of dumping it.
Would look at a comparable tundra to a:
2026 F150 Crew Cab XLT Series
5.0 V8, 3:73 Gear ratio
Still need to pull an enclosed trailer but nothing weight-wise like I used to with equipment.

I tried to switch to a F150 after driving F250’s for about 10 years. Way too frustrating !! Went back to F250 gas instead of diesel. Pulling 20’ boat and 14X7 tandem cargo trailer. The F150 was just too light when pulling on Interstate highways for me

I would buy the f150 every time. Indeed, I have. But I would insist on the 3.5L EB motor. I pull hay and a tractor with mine.

Catherine and I were a few days from leaving for Arizona at the end of January, I had to drive into town, (15 hiway miles) and on the way the transmission started acting up. My 2020 f150 has 116k miles on it. I was literally driving by our local Ford dealer so I pulled in. Figured I should get it checked before we broke down on the Great Basin Highway. Dropped off the truck, next day get a call. Tranny is toast. 10k to fix it. Extended warranty covered the repair. According to the service tech Ford is having a significant problem with the 10 speed transmission. He was unaware how Ford has been able to avoid a recall. Said they see a rig a week with the transmission problem.
No longer putting blind faith in Ford.

Find a used 2nd/2.5 gen basic SR5 with the 5.7 V8 and 4.30 gears for simplicity and reliability. My dad’s new twin turbos makes a lot of power, but I’d take my older 5.7 every time.
