I am probably going to replace my 2001 Ford F150 with either a Tundra or another F-150. I put 250K on my used F-150 but it's about to fall apart and bottom corrosion is bad. So looking for feedback from hunters on affordable pickups. I will have close to $20K to put down on one but on fixed income so I have to watch payment. Looking at year ranges 2010-2020. Main consideration for me is 4WD for hunting and reliable touring vehicle that can pull a small self contained <20ft trailer so wife and I can do some touring we want to do before we get too old to do it anymore.

Tundras are nice, but I think the resale value might push them a lot higher than a F150. There are some difference in year ranges. I think I'd do some research on what years are best for each brand and then go from there.

I have been enjoying my F150. Aluminum helps with the corrosion concerns.

Also I like the features of the f150 better. Fuel tank size, differential choices, etc

Love my 150. Great mileage and great power. 2015 and newer are aluminum so no corrosion worries. Lots of them out there for a reason.

Are you liking the new generation?
I love it! It’s a great truck and tons of power. It’s a little too fancy though, all the sensors and stuff like that are my only complaint but that’s about it. Personally I don’t plan to take it offroad anytime soon. I’m sure it’s capable but I don’t have to so I’m going to keep it on pavement for a while.

I'm another Tundra fan. I know some guys with real high mileage f150s but I also know plenty who have constant trouble with them. For those year ranges of Tundra, I'd avoid the 19 and 20 as they dont have a trans cooler. 16 and up SR5 trucks have a 38 gallon tank instead of a 26, which you'll definitely want for towing. You can retrofit a big tank on an older truck but its nice to not have to.

Go tundra. Yeah it’ll cost you more in fuel annually but in the long run you’ll be way ahead because it won’t break down and it’ll hold its value much better. I’ve owned five tundras and one f 150 between personal and business and for me it’s an easy choice.

This opinion won’t be popular but get a F150 2.7 l ecoboost. Your wallet will thank you at the pump and you will want to hunt more and farther from home. I switched from a 2008 tundra and I like the switch.

I miss my 2005 tundra but I smile every time I drive my F150 hybrid. Excellent gas mileage for a full size gas pickup and it has tons of power when needed. No regrets so far.
