Let’s get this kicked off for this season! It’s always a fun thread to share your catches, successes, questions, and even failures too. What’s everyone chasing this year?

I tossed out 5 DP’s last night on my way home from work. This morning’s check to find three was a confidence booster.

Still a month out here. Hopefully I can take a couple weeks around Christmas and the boy and I run a good predator line for a few weeks. I'm ready to go but not ready to go. Still have a few things I need to get ready. Mainly finish welding up some beaver drowning rods

No trapping here yet, but I finally got the last pelts back I needed to start finishing up my otter blanket. Pelts are sewn together. Time to start working on the backing.

I also just finished a nice pair of beaver mittens for my fishing buddy to surprise him with on our Canada laker trip this winter.

I bought 2 fur sowing machines last year. I need to get them set up so I can start in on some projects

Beavers have fast become my favorite thing to trap
If they weren’t always muddy, heavy, and needed expensive, heavy traps and equipment, they’d be a blast! Luckily I don’t have many where I’m at now. They were the reason I got into trapping in high school as they were cutting corn and making dams and feed piles on our creek. I got fairly good at trapping them and welding supplies for them like 330 stands and rebar drowning rods.

Anything in the water is fun, especially once it freezes. Otters are my favorite with beavers being second. Hard to beat a trip to chase cats or marten, but I always have a few 330s with to set good water, if I see it.
My son really wants to trap a Martin. We are going to try and get our first mink this year. I grew up trapping coons and muskrats. My boy started the predator thing and Im starting to like it too just not very good at it yet. But man those 20 coon days are fun.

If there is a Rural King store near any of you they are closing out the Duke 550 and 650 for $9.91 a trap! Unfortunately none near me I’d like to try some 650’s and would be all over them for that price

coyotes are my favourite so far. Although I always look forward to a week of spring beaver trapping. Trap beavers in the morning, skin in the afternoon and go shoot beavers in the evenings.

I think if I could ever get a wolf they would become my favourite. They are really hard to snare never seem to come back here.

We usually start about Thanksgiving, coyotes then and bobcats later in Dec.
Thats when we start too. Our season opens before that but it is during our deer season and it isn't worth it especially ROW trapping. Just wait a couple weeks and the coons are better anyway then. Cats at Christmas but we have only caught one so far
