Trapping Thread 2024/2025

I use them to cover the trap.

Keeps the cat food from getting wet and it keep the mice and birds from eating any of it. I prefer red because I can check them from a distance. If the cup is on the ground, I know I got an animal or an issue.

Placed an order last week for some trapping supplies. Stuff I either lost in moving or somehow misplaced in the last 8ish years I didn’t trap. Upgraded to some stamped trap ID tags from the write-on ones I made due with last year. New trowel, sifter, swivels and some life. Kinda like an early Christmas!

Man, I don’t miss possums.

I got a quite a stack of them at the train station right now. lol

I'm finally starting to think this trash out. Gonna put out my K9 Jr's next week and try to catch a couple of these coyotes.

Have you used those traps before or are they new to you? Thoughts on them?

They are 100% new. I have never put them in the ground but I will say that they are pretty dang nice and they are 100X better than what I was using. Looking forward to getting them in the ground. I did buy the trap setters and I will say for sure that I am glad I bought them. That trap with 4 coils is a stiff trap....

PS: I am a terrible coyote trapper. But I have caught a couple. Any advice you can offer would be welcome.

What have you used in the past? They seem like a great trap and definitely built to last!

You’re further along into it than I am if you’ve caught any! I’m in no position to give advice in most things, not to mention coyote trapping. I’ve tried trapping them years ago and only ended up with frozen traps when I was in MN. Always been mostly a water trapper, so this dryland stuff is branching out for me.

Been using oooooold duke #2 double coils.

It’s been quiet for over a week. Neighbor kid went back to school last week so I took the traps back over before work. Been slow but we’ve put a good dent in them. I had been having adult raccoon-sized tracks walk past my traps every night. Finally got everything refreshed last night only for a good shower to pop up and roll through. I thought all my bait would be washed away but seems like some of it stayed. Had a bigger female waiting for me this morning. IMG_3968.jpeg

Brings our totals, since June 9th, to 34 raccoons and 1 skunk.

We us some K-9 extremes, not the junior though. Great traps and yes hard to set but 2 feet will get it done for me.
We like Bridgers too.

I have to use K-9 Extreme JR's (GA law wont allow bigger) and I have the trap setters. Those are a game changer for the 4 coil traps.

Are these the biggest trap you can use in GA? What are some others that are popular down there?
