hey guys Im going turkey hunting with my uncle in washington and I need to get a gun
I was wondering if you guys could give me some help on what to get.

Pretty much any shotgun will work, put a full choke in and you're good to go. If you want a standard, reliable gun, go with the 12 ga. Remington 870.

Do you own any shotgun now? Are you looking for a versatile gun or a turkey only gun? Budget? These things would help on some advice

I am using a Winchester sx2 spent hundreds of hours trying different chokes and different loads with each choke to find the best combo for that gun i have a carlson turkey choke and shoot federal 5s 3.5in loads and that sucker patterns awesome out to 65 yds took my biggest tom in MN last year at 64 yds

Was a pump guy for years and slayed a couple dozen with my trusty Remington 870, another dozen ,or so, with my Benelli Nova.Broke the stock on the 870,sold the Nova, and now use an awesome autoloader set-up.I purchased a Remington 11-87 Sportsman a few years back and killed a couple of birds but really was unhappy with the patterning of the barrel. Also the barrel was too heavy for the receiver creating poor balance.I upgraded the barrel to a Light Contour barrel which improved the balance and pattern. Now I have a $800 autoloader that I feel is every bit as good as any of the $1000 + auto's.Really any shotgun with good pattern will suffice. The point is to call them in close,...50-60 yd. shots isn't close.IMO:D

If your looking for a turkey only gun I guess I would suggest not spending a lot and find a camo gun that can take a 3 1/2 mag. I use a cheapo mossberg 835 and it gets the job done. The difference of a 3 inch to a 3 1/2 on my patterns is incredible. If the sky is the limit get the super black eagle if you can find one for that price. If you don't get an auto and want to shoot the 3 1/2 mags I would suggest a ported barrel. I have had my share of bruised shoulders from shooting in akward positions in the woods when birds come in from the side

Might be worth looking into this one. I watched some 3.5" 12 gauge patterns being shot out of these, and was very impressed. I know some guys who have been shooting them and loving them. And the price is very hard to beat.
