I'll add to what others have said. I own a Bergara B-14 Ridge. Awesome rifle, but a mountain rifle it is NOT. I took it deer hunting this year in SoCal. We have some pretty steep and rugged mountains here in CA. We hiked in about 2.5 miles up hill and that rifle was already sucking the life out of me. Mine is the 6.5 CM and weighs (as advertised Bergara) 7.5 lbs, but I think they may be fibbing a bit on that number. With Leupold bases and rings, VX-5HD scope, loaded mag and a cotton Garand style sling, thing weighs close to 11 lbs. Based on what those items weigh individually, weight should have been just under 10, which is still too heavy. My buddy was hunting with a Tikka T3x lite and I had a chance to handle it.
I am now looking for a T3x lite or superlite myself. Having a hard time deciding on which one though. I won't be selling the Bergara, but I won't be using it on mountain hunts in the future either. It's a gun for hunting the flats and plains. The Hunter I believe is the same rifle as the Ridge, just with a different colored stock and without the threaded barrel. If I get a T3x lite or superlite and set it up the same way, it should weigh between 8.09 and 8.6 lbs. I will likely be using Warne rings, which don't require bases on the Tikka, so the respective weights would be even less. Whoever said that ounces translate into pounds as your humping through the bush wasn't lying.
