A fine for hitting an animal? Where? mtmuley
If there was a state that did that (and I doubt that there is), I would guess CA, CO, OR, and/or WA…

I dont believe it...otherwise insurance companies wouldn't pay a claim anywhere. If there was a state that did that (and I doubt that there is), I would guess CA, CO, OR, and/or WA…
There is a stretch of rural highway here I call the gauntlet. Deer and elk both. I've seen them hit in broad daylight. In the dark it's a slow ride if you are smart. mtmuleyGlad you’re okay. He comes through the windshield and it’s a different story.
I’d just give them the truck.A fine for hitting an animal? Where? mtmuley
Nope, can salvage them in Washington. Now if you hit someone's steer on the road in range land, yep, you pay for that.If there was a state that did that (and I doubt that there is), I would guess CA, CO, OR, and/or WA…
True. I've salvaged a couple deer. More than half bloodshot. Not sure how much meat you would have gotten.

Glad you’re ok! Curious if that was on Highway 1 between Maxville and Pburg? I had to brake hard for a moose there a year or 2 ago.. Also I think I figured out where you live from your second pic. We’re almost neighborspulled out couple daily drivers to get by, purchased a real nice parts truck

Pa. State police can dispatch them also. Here in PA you can get a salvage tag. If you want a rack you pay per point. Almost found out the hard way a deer with 4 busted legs that is suffering cannot be dispatched. At least that was the threats made to us about possible prosecution. Only the WCO can do that.

I'd have to Google, but Montana is a free range state I believe. mtmuleyNot CA or OR.
I don't believe a fine for hitting wildlife exists. Only livestock gets that protection.
Montana is an open range state. That does not extend to interstates though. I hit two cows on the freeway just west of Whitehall and my insurance did not pay out.I'd have to Google, but Montana is a free range state I believe. mtmuley
