Just a few minutes ago as I was reading about "Best Value in a Truck thread" I heard Crash!!! My 11 point Whitetail Mount came crashing down! The wife comes running since usually a loud noise means I am going to the ER. Well the mount landed on one side of the Rack and split the skull cap and ripped the cape all the way down to the eye.
I had used some Brass Hangers that said it would hold 100 pounds. When looking at the hanger I noticed the end cap of the pin you put into the wall was still there, so I looked at the wall and sure enough the pin was still in the wall. I guess it just rusted or plain failed right at that point. I tried so hard to make sure whatever I used to mount this Deer and my son's would never fail.
I think I am going to have the 11 point fixed along with 3 other Bucks that need mounting and when I hang them there will be a wire secured to the Mount and screwed into the wall as a back up. And that is not how to start your Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John:mad:

That sucks, When I had my house built I had anchor boards installed underneath the drywall. Now I just have to shoot something big enough to hang on the wall!

Now that's a tough way to start the weekend. I hope you can get him stitched up and looking good again.

I think we were using the same mounting system. I remembered when that happened to your Mount. The only thing that would have eased my pain is if that little ankle biting, piss on the hardwood floor Yorkie had been under it! LOL John

Sorry John I was able to fix the hole in Randy's wall from the crashing elk but you live a little too far away for a quickie drywall fix. Sorry to hear about that. Dink hit the nail by posting a lag bolt. No more little mamsy pamsy hooks for animal heads
