Has anyone ever seen anything that they could not explain, as in 'ghost or alien or something'? I along with two friends in rural mississippi back in the early 70's got our jeep stuck while duck hunting one afternoon while roost shooting wood ducks and had to walk about 2 miles to the nearest house well after dark to use a phone and get help. We were all in jr high or high school at the time. As we were walking along the gravel road we passed a really old cemetery along the road ( I was not scared of cemeteries then or now), but as we passed the cemetery a large orange object about the size of a basketball sailed across the road about 20 feet high and was angling down into the cemetery. The object went behind a cedar tree and didn't come out the other side. We all took off running and ran until we gave out, that was further than I could run today. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen anything like that? I still remember that after all these years.

That was my coon light. My dog at the time didn’t bark

One night I was camped at Black Mesa state park in the Oklahoma panhandle while antelope hunting I had a encounter. There were no clouds and not much moon pretty dark night. I was sitting around a campfire with 2 guys I met the day before and one of the guy's two son's. It was around 9pm and had been a quiet night when suddenly I started hearing lots of chatter and excited voices coming from camps all around us. I remember hearing someone in the camp on the hill above us loudly exclaim "what the hell is that". About that time I looked up and am still not sure what I saw it was a large triangle with no lights heading SW towards NM. It seemed to be less then 1000ft up and was huge easily the size of a football field or two. With no lights and little moon you could only make out the shape a triangle with rounded edges. The odd part was it didn't make a sound just slowly drifted SW till it was out of site. Tried to talk about it with the guy's I was sitting with but one quickly put a stop to it I assumed at the time because he didn't want to freak his kids out.

I was leaving work early while working nights, so 3-4am. It was very foggy but a full moon. I topped over a hill in town and broke through the fog bank and circling above the town was a smaller than normal 50-100ft long, white, unmarked blimp maneuvering over the town. I pulled over and watched it. The full moon reflected off the low lying fog and brightly illuminated the blimp, which it clearly was. I could hear its engines when I pulled over. It was low enough and bright enough I could tell it was unmarked but maneuvering pretty quickly. It finally moved off to the north. I spoke with a local police officer the next afternoon and he said they saw it all the time. I did some research and could turn up nothing. It was clearly a conventional blimp, but smaller than any I had ever seen and quicker. Plus the time of night and altitude and location right over town made it a strange experience.

A Montana game warden told me this story once:

Back in the 90s he was camped out somewhere deep in N. central ID, at the end of an old winding log road along a pretty steep hillside creek bottom. It was thick timber where the road ended behind him, and somewhat open timber along the road to where he was parked. He was having a late afternoon nap in the back of his pickup when he was awakened by the sound of something coming down the road behind him - footsteps. He said it was moving fast, and had hard, thumping footsteps. It came around the bend to his pickup, and when he sat up to see what it was, it had already gone behind some trees but he could hear it moving through the brush but couldn't hear any more thumping footsteps. He said it sounded like it was going from tree to tree. He hung around for a little bit after that and then left.

He also played the flute with R. Carlos Nakai when I knew him. Interesting fellow.

As for me, literally last weekend I saw something huge and dark swimming subsurface in the Flathead river while bass fishing. It wasn't long like a fish, and didn't have a tail like a beaver or anything. I watched it for a few seconds before it disappeared into dark water.

Oh, and a Salish tribal member once told me she was hit with a rock while berry picking the Reservation Divide mountains south of Arlee. Said that's sasquatch's way of telling you to get lost.

I was camped alone in Grand Gulch, Utah at the base of an ancient ruin. I had a small fire and was listening to bullfrogs and enjoying the early evening next to a creek. A small light like the size of a match appeared in the cliff wall on the other side of the creek. I stared at it a long time and thought it was a reflection on a rock from my fire. But I stood up and watched it from different angles and it never blinked out. I finally went to sleep but never knew where the light came from.

When I was young ......4 or 5 (so mid 70s)....I was sleeping one night in the summer and woke sitting straight up. I slept with a night light as a kid and with the little light it gave off I something in the window. Pale, small head, dark eyes ......just staring throught the screen window. I think I gasped and suddenly it started off across the yard in the moonlight. Looked to have a shiny red outfit of some sort and moving at a speed faster than any animal I have ever seen. Didn't really feel scared or anything.....just little kid version of "WTF?" Still don't know what it was.....didn't sleep the rest of the night so I know I wasn't sleeping/dreaming....who knows. I guess I HOPE I know enough to know there is a LOT I don't know.

Sometime in the early 90s I came home for leave in October. Went squirrel hunting one afternoon. Just as the sun was setting behind the trees I was at the base of a ridge & starting up, moving as silently as possible while stalking.

Just as I'd taken a step & stopped I heard a distinct voice just above a whisper to my right, not far, say "Over here". I frozen and felt goosebumps run down my neck (just as it does now or anytime retelling this).

I looked to my right expecting to see an upset bow hunter that I'd walked up on but there was nobody. There weren't any trees big enough to support a bowstand & no person in them, just some widely spaced head high scrub oaks.

I did what anyone that dies early in a horror movie would do, walked slowly in that direction. The only thing I found was a brush blind with a plastic lawn chair in it. There was dust & cobwebs on the chair and undisturbed leaves covering the ground inside of the brush blind. It was clear nobody had been in the brind in a long time.

I decided any last minute squirrels were safe for that day and without running, made a deliberate exit of the area.

I'll go to my grave swearing I heard a voice say "Over here"

Ok, NEVER told anyone of this incident. Hunting Adirondacks early 20's, ok wise guys my age, not the roaring twenties, which was long time ago. Out of fingers and toes counting how long ago. I left hunting camp to hunt solo since nobody wanted to make the trek in so far well before daylight. This was way before GPS so it was compass to stay on course. I get about 1/4 mile from the meadow that I never hunted before and stopped. Something told me to lay up. No sounds. Dark in Adirondacks is can't see hand. I have no idea why I stopped and turned my flashlight off. I listen. Absolutely nothing. I mean no rustling of mice, no night birds, no owls. DEAD quiet. Then I see a glow, then a large brilliant white light soundlessly rises up out of the meadow and disappeared into sky. No visible shape just brilliant white light. I am dead serious about this. I sat there on a log, light off and shaking so freaking hard for quite a while. Dawn broke, I stood up and went back to camp. I never went to meadow to check and NEVER went back to that meadow to hunt. Never told anyone of this until this thread hit a nerve.

Swamp gas my butt.

Here are a couple of things that have happened to me/us.

My wife and I were staying at my wife’s, friend’s cabin, in the Adirondacks, with them for the weekend. It is an old hunting cabin built in approximately 1900, late 1800’s, for a family relative.
We were staying in an upstairs bedroom which you had to pass through another bedroom to get to.
Our first night, during the middle of the night I needed to use the bathroom which was down stairs.
I headed down the stairs which led to a short landing to turn to three more stairs into the bedroom which I had to pass through to get to the bathroom, which I did.
Upon returning as I approached the stairs I noticed what looked like the image of a small figure(?) on the wall. I could see from about the chin to the waist of this figure which looked like it had a buttoned collar with buttons about 2-3 inches apart all the way down and a pinstripe pattern to the clothing (?). It was so odd to me that I reached out to touch it and when I did I hit a mirror that was on the wall.
I went upstairs and laid there trying to figure out what I had just experienced and fell to sleep.
My Wife and I are early risers and we woke up before light and went down to make coffee and watch the sunrise over the lake.
As I came around the landing I looked at that mirror and noticed that it was reflecting the leaves on the trees outside.
A completely different pattern than a straight pinstripe.
As I thought of it, was this something that was outside? In the mirror?
When my Wife’s friend got up that morning and we told her about what happed she showed us a picture of her great grandmother sitting in a rocking chair with what looked like the dress that was in the mirror. Apparently, the cabin was built for her while the men hunted there….

This one is on going.
We lost my brother in-law a couple of years ago to depression. I’ll leave it at that.
Just as the pandemic was getting ready to take off, he stayed with us for about a week before heading to a rehab.
He stayed in the room our Son now uses.
Since we’ve had some things that make you scratch your head.
Dan, our Son, left to go eat with friends, and my wife was out shopping, and I headed upstairs to get in the shower. As I was getting undressed, I heard some coughing come from Dan’s room and just brushed it off as it being Dan.
While I was in the shower it dawned on me that I was the only one home.
We have a sliding barn style door in our dining room, and my wife or I have closed that door, only to come back a few moments later and have it open.
I’m ocd about our downstairs bathroom door being shut, and I’ve been home alone only to find the door ajar.
We are constantly hearing walking upstairs when we know that no one is up there, usually in Dan’s room or coming from Dans’s room.
One time, it sounded like someone had left Dan’s room and was walking down the stairs, it was so pronounced that the dog actually went out to the stairs and I got up to check to see who it was, as I was home alone (I’m retired) at the time. No one there.
I’ve also felt someone grab my ankle at night, as if to wake me up. Only to find no one there.
We will be talking at times about him or his family, and the lights will start flickering.
The other day I was talking with my Father In-law about the coming hunting season on the phone. After we hung up my Mother In-law texted my wife and told her that her lights were flickering while we were talking.
Things that never happened before.
Definitely odd, maybe coincidence?

I was walking my dog early in the morning before work. I live on a gravel road surrounded by corn fields and my neighbor to the north is a half mile up the road from me. I always carry a flash light but hardly ever have it on because I love looking at the stars. About a quarter mile up the road a bright white light about the size of a basketball appeared about 50 ft to my right and slowly floated in front of me across the road to about 50 ft to my left then disappeared. It was so real I actually froze and just stood there for about 5 minutes wondering if I really saw that.the dog even froze, perked his ears up with curiosity.

Wow, I bet you can still hear that voice. I have never been nor am I interested in paranormal but I think the Bible teaches of a spiritual world all around us that we can not see.

Both of my parents grew up in haunted houses and almost all my childhood was spent living in two different haunted houses. So, ghost and spirits have always just been commonplace to me. I have never had any ghostly encounters in the woods but there are a couple of places that I always get an overwhelming feeling that there is some sort of spirit present.

I have seen several UFOs over the years, but I have never found them to be scary, nor have I ever seen anything that would convince me that they were aliens from outer space.

One time when I was maybe 15 or 16, I was camping alone far from where there should have been anyone else around. I was sleeping under the stars and had seen several shooting stars before falling asleep. I was awakened by a blinding white light shining directly in my face. The first thought to enter my mind was that a burning meteor was steeking directly towards me, so I threw myself off to the side. It was immediately pitch dark. I fumbled around for my flashlight but when I turned it on there was nothing around and I didn't hear a sound throughout the whole experience. I have no idea what it was. Maybe someone had walked up on me and shown a flashlight in my face, but I don't know where they would have come from nor how they got away so quickly and silently.

It took a while for the adrenalin to wear off that night.

Camping in my boat last September 28th at Canyon Ferry I seen two lights shaped in a right angle going across the sky at supersonic speeds, they were probably several miles wild. They were traveling at the same speed and trajectory, it went across the sky in literally seconds. I was assuming is was possible ballistic missiles from Lewistown/GF area. They/it was probably 30-60k feet in the atmosphere. Caught a nice rainbow the next morning jogging spoons for walleye.
