With a long boat ride ahead of us this morning, we headed north out of Cleveland in the dark. By first light we were dropping gear at around 15 miles and 65ft of water. We typically target walleyes but with everyone’s freezers packed from another great spring we decided we’d have a little fun and go after some steelhead. We netted five and lost another three plus another half dozen eyes, one of which was because of a double with a really nice 26” eye on a slider. This was the first time I’ve gone for this species of fish but definitely will not be the last. What a fun trip with good friends enjoying some public waters.
