The Rifle you haven’t shot in a long, long time…but should!

I have a .54 cal Gemmer Hawkin with a 1:60 twist. I'm shooting round balls out of it and cannot get it to even hit paper at 100 yards. At 50 yards I'm touching holes. I missed three elk at 100 yards on the last day of the season so I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out how to get this thing to shoot accurately. I found 90 grains of powder of 777 has been the best for 50 yards but want someone else's thoughts!
Alright so it was a kit? Put a laser beam in your muzzle and 25yd check on sights. Otherwise, try .535 patches and generous bore butter.

My Dad's old 99c in .308. Idk maybe I'll dust it off if we tree a lion this year? Fmj aught not trash the pelt too bad i dont think

My old 94 30-30… fun to shoot even if it’s just punching paper. Was my first “big” game rifle, gifted (already well worn back then) from my god father 55 or so years ago and took my first deer and hog with. Hmmmm…maybe it won’t rain tomorrow!

my 30 Gibbs made from an 1903 A4 Springfield. It was considered the pre 300 win mag.

German Rifle picked up by a buddies grandfather. 8mm. Has a first Reich mark. Been wanting to try it. Action is good. Barrel looks good to an untrained eye. Need to get it xrayed or something before being brave enough to try

Pictures please! How interesting?

All of them. I’ve shot my Sako carbines- .308 and .338 twice in the past two years..2 shots, two cow elk. There is something wrong with this picture. The ignored leader is the AR-50 I won 7 years ago. It remains unfired. Scoped, ammo, no bipod (only excuse) unfired.

A .35 Rem lever action. Shot a buffalo about 5 years ago. Need to find some ammo and go punch some paper.
The other is my trusty Nagant. 7.62 x 54. Took my biggest white tail with it. Shoots a steady 3 m.o.a
with a Simmons scope. Haven't shot it in abt 10 yrs

Interesting how shooters have evolved. And maybe not in a good way. mtmuley

yup, nagant was one of my first rifles. Simple, cheap, fun and good enough at the time. Total cost of it wouldn't hardly put a down payment on my current elk hunting scope. Times have changed.

Remington 700 ADL in 7mm Express

Remember Remington trying to reinvegerate the 280 by renaming the cartridge using "7mm" in the name. Apparently shooters were mixing up the 7mm Express and 7mm Remington Magnum cartridges so the name was changed back to 280 Remington.

It has been almost 40 years since I have shot it.
