Quick update from my perspective. Got to the cabin around noon. Unloaded and Greg and @Dave N pulled up. Ate some lunch, did some cleaning, mostly Dave and I watched Greg clean the sxs that the rodents had begun using as a motel. Took a ride exploring some ground near the cabin. Saw some elk sign. Dave and I just got back from an evening drive mostly getting to know some roads and access. Saw some deer and several moose. Didn't spot elk yet, but I think we will. Heading out in the morning for some more glassing from some vantage points we found this evening.

As we pulled back into the cabin tonight, I thought to myself, "I'm sure glad I'm not sleeping in a tent tonight." Big thanks to @Wildabeest !

Tim and I pulled up to one spot to glass and within a minute we both pulled up 2 different bull moose! One was with a cow. Down the road we had the cow and calf jump out of the fence line next to us. This picture is through the binoculars and not the best but you can see a paddle pretty good and the cow off to the right.

That may be an elk in Russia but most people here call that a moose! Best not shoot that flavor.

@bowhuntmontana is here! Greg and I had run to town so he could charge his truck. We took a ride up some BLM roads looking around and Tim was unloading his gear when we got back.

Looks like a big moose and throw that calf moose some cookies it needs to fatten up for winter! Dang that’s a small calf

I met a guy moose hunting the area during my archery hunt out there. He ended up shooting a really nice bull early October. There definitely are some good moose in the area!

Got in some decent morning glassing. Found some elk! Planning to hike a little this afternoon and do an evening glass. Got some rain last night and found some slick spots that are better navigated when things aren't so wet. Will take a look at the weather, more maps, and start hatching plans. One more glassing session tonight.
