The Great HT 2026 weigh in.

151 this AM. Biggest loser weigh-in on 3/3. I’ll have to slow it down before then to avoid dropping too low. While I likely have 1st place in the bag, the real upsides are my health reflections over the last 6 weeks.

A. For years before I met my wife I lived alone and relied on clean eating to regulate my weight. Now there are chicken nuggets and cheese pizza, a pantry full of kid snacks, and I’m eating more leftovers than anyone.

B. I moved to a different work area 8 years ago that always has food around, very little of it what I’d consider healthy. I mindlessly fall back on this, only bringing in my own lunch about half the time.

C. Dad life also comes along with narrower opportunities for exercise, less sleep, and more stress. It all adds up.

D. I consume a modest amount of sweets, but it was not stuff I necessarily liked. It was just whatever happened to be around - a lose/lose of unhealthy treats and not even savoring it.

I’ve done a lot of research on health and nutrition over the last month. I learned about how insulin works, GI/GL, creatine, protein pacing, BMR, and more.

I did a deep dive on the “low dietary fat” era of recommended high processed grain, and minimal consumption of oils and saturated fats. I came to terms of how completely brainwashed I had become by the conventional dietary wisdom of growing up in the 1990’s, which literally fueled the diabesity epidemic.

New plans moving forward (after the weight loss challenge:

A. No work food. Period. It is just too much of a trap to get sucked back into.

B. Eat my own food at home. Apart from a modest weekly cheat day, no refined flour, no added sugar, no vegetable oils. Lean into whole grains, avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, eggs, cheese, heavy cream, animal fats, in addition to my existing veggies, fruit, mushrooms, nuts, and game meat. No reliance on weird meals or health foods I don’t already know or like.

C. For a cheat day treat, choose a small portion of things I actually really like - Oreo cake pops, iced carrot cake, old-fashioned donuts, Reeces cups, etc.

D. Do a 6-month eval on what is working and what is not.

Got a smile and a laugh with my Oncologist this morning. Not often the happy call for him. More smiles. Keep doing and the meds working.

Loads of firework no problemo.
Dotti weighs 61 lbs. Slim giant.

Life is good.

Starting a 48 hour fast today. After a weekend of junk food I’m definitely going to suffer but that’s half the fun.
