I did both of mine playing basketball. Left one in 2019 and right one in 2023. Slow learner. No more 3 on 3...
I went surgery route for both of mine. I would ask for additional input on recovery - same surgeon both times for me and on the second one he had the cast off at <4 weeks and starting PT sooner. A lot of surgeons/PT are recommending weight bearing and activity sooner. I took BPC157, protein supplements and creatine while recovering from the second one. Seemed like a better recovery overall.
First surgery was the end of January and after 5 days of archery elk hunting in late Sept I needed a lot of ice and rest. But I could hike pretty good off trail.
One year after the second surgery one I did a 1/2 marathon with 3k+ ft of elevation gain with no issues.
I had a knee scooter and a "iwalk" linked below. I used the iwalk to go about 2 miles round trip on a trail that had some up and down, that was interesting. Slightly sketchy. But nice for moving around home and work, going up and down stairs. And did some fishing with it too.
