The Great HT 2026 weigh in.

This is a great thread and glad to jump in on it.

Age: 56 (57 in June).

Height: 5’8”

Current Weight: March 2026: 178
Previous high: Dec 2022: 208
Previous low: Jan 2024: 168
Target weight: 162

A few years ago I decided that a lifestyle change was needed. A1C was 7.1, family has a very long history of high blood sugar. I went hardcore Keto…lost 30# in a year. There were weeks when I could get under 40 grams of carbs/sugar…and I suspect under 20 at times for the entire week.

Went from a 46 short jacket to a 40 reg…snug 38 waist to a comfortable 34. A1C down to 5.3 (!). Cholesterol is at 155 (always a genetic strength).

Job folded…took a while to find another gig and put a few pounds back on. Now 4 months into a new job I’ve got my footing again and getting back on it.

My family has long lived genes, IF the sugar gets managed. That seems to be the lessons of my life. My dad is 84, pushing 265 or so and still doing 10 day deep sea fishing trips. Mom is 85…

No reason I can’t get into my 90’s…now whether I WANT to be 90+ is a totally different story! :)

What I do know is that getting into the low 160’s and getting balanced in the muscle category is a good thing. Retirement isn’t that far off and I want to get there intact and hunt ready.
