The dream that began it all

I wonder if folks in CO have a name for these mountain newbies
Husband unit and I call them "tour-ons" since they generally impede traffic and drive as if they are the only car on the road and the road is not a highway but rather an amusement park for "ermahgerd mountains!" and "ermahgerd sheeeeeps!"

Not a great morning. Not seeing much.

My cousin is thick in deer though and they passed on quite a few this morning. My buddy also finally found some elk, just not in a great spot to make a move on and there is some private he has to rock climb around so not sure if they will attempt it or not.

Last night the herd came out perfect except it was missing the 4 legal bulls that was with it.

We saw Nadda last night again.

This morning we saw a group right away pretty far away and then a lone buck cruising about a mile away.

Its been tough and the super nice weather im sure isnt helping

It is very easy to tell if your driving with people that have never seen the mountains before. Face to the window and photos out snapping non stop photos.

We get the same thing down here , people giving the "Tour" to their visitors , and the out of staters driving like shit .

Two more forkies got the pass and saw a bunch more does.

Finally some fun deer action this afternoon. It started when we saw a small group with three bucks. A small forkie, a very large forkie and a 3x3. The 3x3 was limping but we didnt see evidence that we was shot and he was still fighting so he must not have been hurt too bad. My wife was for sure feeling bad for him and thinking about taking him until he started to fight so let be a lesson to you kids...fighting can save your life.

We then spotted a large group of does that had some bucks in it including a 4x4. They were 1200 yards away so we made a move on them to get a better look. At 250 yards, my wife was getting excited but determined he just wasn't the buck she is looking for.

A little back story here. My wife has to have the record for the most mule deer bucks passed without ever shooting one. It has to be over 50 now. She doesn't want her first one to be small. Her very first mule deer hunt in Nebraska she missed a giant buck and now she says she has the forkie curse (all she would ever have in range is a forkie). We have broke that a bit on this trip now passing up two decent bucks but they just weren't the one for her.
