Suppressor alignment?

I’m brand new to suppressors and just bought two .30 cal Dead Air Nomads. I saw on their website that Dead Air sells alignment rods that go down your rifle bore to make sure your suppressor is aligned properly. Is this really necessary if your rifles are properly threaded?

Probably not if the rifle is threaded properly.

However, errors are made. I believe a while ago on here someone had a can that caught a little bit of a bullet leaving the barrel and it messed up the can pretty good. If they're going on factory threaded barrels, I'd imagine any potential issue would be covered by the rifle manufacturer. Any other potential issues ought to be covered by the smith that did the threading.

They should be checked for center at least once to make sure that tolerance stacking won't produce end cap or baffle strikes. You really don't have to have an alignment rod to do it, but there's some peace of mind in seeing the rod centered in the hole of the end cap.

Just pull the bolt and look down the bore. Pretty easy to confirm.

This. Yes, you should check alignment but your eyeballs work fine IMO. For the types of guys who buy lazer bore sighting cartridges, you can burn money on alignment rods if it makes ya feel better.

It's not always the muzzle threads. There can be some bad adapters or threading on the suppressor end of the equation too.

Rifle threads, suppressor threads, and pull the bolt and take a peek down the barrel thru the suppressor for a circle of light or background. This will show your suppressor can be properly aligned. When your shooting or hiking with it every so often make sure its still screwed on tight so you'll know that it is currently aligned properly.

Alignment rods aren’t that expensive. Definitely worth checking. As someone whose launched a form 1 suppressor down range.

Agree with above. I’ve always just pulled the bolt and looked for a full moon at the end. Other’s experiences may vary.

If the muzzle threads were cut correctly, usually not an issue. However, have had plenty of factory rifle and some re barrel jobs come through the shop that looked like the threads were carved out with a pocket knife and were so far off centerline that I had to cut the barrel off and start over. Another point of failure is the Amazon shopper who loves to save a penny, so they get their suppressor adapters and brakes off Amazon and "surprise" they are nowhere near concentric, but they were cheap right?
