Watched it with my 3yr old.
During the scene where the blacktail was being broken down he says "mmm yummy! Daddy can I have some?"
That and the last scene with Jim got me. Good film.

Today I was tasked with assembling a bunch of closet organizers my wife purchased. I put this film on while I did it. I haven’t watched it yet because, well, Vimeo....

If you’ve listened to Rinella’s podcasts you’ve probably heard him tell some of the stories in this movie. But that really doesn’t matter because it’s all assembled into a great concise short essay on hunting.

It had a particular power on me watching it, with the recent passing of Jim Posewitz. His contributions to the film are strong, and though it was a story I’ve heard before, the story the film closes with put tears in my eyes. I then saw the tears in his, and I had more.

Especially the last part about understanding the animals in a way nobody else does. It’s like a farmer understanding produce in a way none of the rest of us fully comprehend.
