I updated to the Tricer AD carbon tripod with the Tricer lp pan head. I can't say enough good things about this setup. it is super lightweight, durable and easy to use.

Sounds cliche but RRS is hard to be beat if you have the budget & they have expanded their line up with some smaller lighter options

I will second the Tricer set up. I have the lighter BC tripod, but that LP pan head is awesome; the panning feature (hard to explain) is really slick, and makes grid glassing much easier and more precise. That would be my vote.

I have the Leupold carbon fiber tripod for backpacking… I like it for that application, have a heavy manfrotto for closer to the truck applications

For a light weight tripod that's great for binos and still works for my big Kowa 88 spotter, I use the Slik CF 634.

The guys at S and S Archery suggested I try it out for my spotter and worked fine. Sure, a bigger, heavier one will be more stable, but for when I'm backpacking I valued lighter. I've got a heavy, super stable Slik tripod for shorter scouting trips or close to the truck.

The Slik carbon fiber ones have treated me well so far. S & S Archery were very helpful on the phone too, in case you'd like to ask them recommendations for your specific use case.
