Gotta say, those first pics.....looks like a coyote to me as well

I actually had to do the double take on it at first, the pictures do suck but I can assure you that it is not a coyote. If you took a look through the bino's, it took all doubt away

Considering we saw a coyote about 3 miles down the road from there, it was pretty clear that the first dog was about 3 times the size of the second.


And +1 on the priorities..............Athough busy right now with work stuff, I was gone months at a time as my first three were real little. I finally realized the money wasn't worth the time being away from them. Therefore, i've settled with making it to everything i can for my kids........Speaking of, gotta run get my daughter to girl scouts, then pick her up to take her to softball. Then go pick up my boys from the logo's group that my wife will take them to........Hope their isn't a meeting i need to get involved with tonight cause i'm just not gonna make it if so

Many of you have been given Kudos for your effort and example. Instead of continuing with the backhanded encouragement just continue to post the things that need attention. We are all at different levels. If you're going to coach then be grateful for the effort that is being made. Like was mentioned just because he isn't camped on the computer posting all his efforts doesn't mean he hasn't done anything. It's called social skills, some need to brush up on them.

SS...really? Telling TCG to 'get involved'? Ouch. Seems a bit harsh. I understand your passion for the legislature issues and whatnot (and it fires me up even though I'm not a resident), but seriously, you don't know the specifics each guy deals with. Everyone is constrained in some way. If a guy sends emails or places some phone calls, that's awesome. That is being involved, in my opinion.

elk H, I understand that everyone is busy with life, been there done that. I dont see how telling anyone to get involved would be painful. If you have the time to hunt and fish, you have, (make) the time to keep what we have. We are under attack from with in. This is worse than a Trojan horse.

I'll tell everyone at this stage, if you hunt, Fish, breath, you had better get involved. The people taking away whats ours, have incentive. Money.

SS, keep fighting the good fight. You guys are doing a good job. I definitely want to help however I can. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the details of MT legislature so I depend on you gurus to educate me. That being said, I'd be very interested in you posting a two-prong approach in your posts...can you indicate what Residents can do vs. Non-Residents? I have a suspicion that most of these issues in MT are things that MT residents play a part in. Again, I want to help however a NR can...love the step-by-step instructions, emails, phone numbers, etc. that walk people through what they can do to help. Thoughts?

Have no fear, busy outdoorsmen parents.... I have no children but will tirelessly work to secure the hunting/fishing futures of the kids whose parents are too busy to do it themselves. All kidding? aside, for a reality check...I have attended sportsmen's organization mtgs. for years and have seen a few "busy parents" making time to secure the future of the American hunting/fishing tradition for themselves, their kids, and all of us. It does come down to priorities...agreed. But, flat out, when I see a trophy photo with a parent and their kid(s), I sincerely wonder what kind of future that kid faces if he/she really likes the outdoors....and if the parents - of that kid - are spending a fraction of the time trying to preserve and protect these things that they spend enjoying them now...... Yup - priorities

There are those of us who are more sensitive than others. Calm down none of the posts were pointed your direction. I have a list of folks I send emails too. You should hear them whine.

I come here to hear about people's hunts, look at pictures of critters, occasionally get some advice, post pictures/stories of my own, and keep myself informed -- in that order. I prefer getting preached to on Sunday mornings. I appreciate the enthusiasm and time you guys spend on some of this stuff, but spare us the lectures.

I'll preface this with the assertion that I stand firmly by everything I have "nagged" about. I have OUR best interests as my goal, and say what's on my mind no quarter given none expected. That being said, I do not and never mean to be a polarizing "force" nor do I want to see my fellow hunters/anglers get turned off of the message by not agreeing with or disliking the messenger. Not that I am so "holier than thou" to believe I have the power to do any of that. I, and a couple others, on here seem passionate enough about what we have here in MT and want to keep it bad enough that we are willing to maybe offend a few folks to get the message across. I am not on this site to make friends, I'm on here to hopefully be apart of making sure we keep what we have and hopefully make it better. Now more than ever, we as MT Joe Public hunters need to stick together. I think most of us are all on the same side. We just do things differently, as evidenced by this thread.

This problem has been coming for a long time...many, many, many years of complacency is whats really got us here.

I attended numerous F&G meetings when I lived in Montana...the faces rarely changed and within about 3-4 years I knew most everyone in the room at most every meeting.

A vast majority of hunters have the attitude of, "I buy a license once a year, good enough". That may have been the case 20 years ago, but the times have changed while the attitude has not. We're clearly past the days of just being a license being enough.

Its just caught up to us...and its slammed us big-time this year. The one positive I'm seeing from all this is that for the first time since I started hunting in 1980, hunters are upset, mad, and fired up. Sometimes a good swift kick to the sack is what it takes.

The other thing I've learned about this session is that there are people, that no matter what is being taken away from them as hunters, will never get more involved than just buying a license and hunting each year. Thats fine, but I'll be the first person to remind these types just exactly why they lost their ass.

Hunters are just like any other group or club...5% of the membership does 95% of the work. Just the way it is and I've come to accept it. However, we cant run the 95% down the road as their membership is important, despite their lack of involvement.

Fighting the legislature, writing letters, making phone calls to reps, representing hunters at the legislature, etc. etc. is not everyone's cup of tea. Some enjoy it, some dont, some are good at it, others not so much.

Solidarity is where its at when fighting the legislature.
