Sow bears and boo boos - let's see them.

Found one!

I was about 20, and had no idea how to tell a big bear from little. I was alone on this hunt, the shot was across a canyon but not super far. I took meticulous photo notes in order to find it, it died and rolled at the shot. It took a solid two hours to find it...first because it was a very small boar, second because it had rolled under a log that was propped a foot or two off the ground. I was extremely relieved to find it.
It rode proudly on the wall for many years; I eventually gave it to a guy who was helping us move. He was extremely excited even though he was about 4x bigger than the bear. He was also 2x bigger than most humans.

A recent trip to a place...first bear and made the mistake of pulling the trigger early on a 7 day trip. Had a lot of fun, caught a lot of hell, and met some crazy dudes that are friends with Bambistew. I'll survive and lessons were learned about getting excited about a bear in a place known for bears around every tree.

No shame getting excited about killing your first. Congrats! Hopefully it left more room in the cooler for seafood.

Pro tip of the day, have him get extra close and put the camera on fish-eye. Tip #2, move way way back, so you are kind of a tiny little dot, compared to the bear. Then don't smile, have that "I just killed the bear that attacked Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, #respect!"
It's hard to make me looks small these days...our meal plan of eat anything for a week then pound beers with 2 crazy Alaskans hunting in a Uhaul definitely didn't help :ROFLMAO:

Pornograhy and the bear hunting industry have a lot in common. Both love to use fisheye lenses, to make thing appear bigger. No matter how much you "Fluff it up" it still looks small. You know a big bear when you see it. And last but not least, the darker ones on average are bigger than the blondes.
