Some Forest Grouse Pics

I am going to start bringing a slingshot along on deer & elk hunts... or maybe that blowgun I bought back in junior high that I used to shoot my sisters with in the back of the head while they watched TV. But I don't see any mention of those in the regs. I had some wicked little darts for it that would cleanly kill one of these guys.

Yeah, but dumber than ptarmigan. I believe those are females. The males are darker in the breast and neck with a more pronounced eye comb like this one...

I've only seen one ruffie this season and that one got shot with lead not the camera. Haven't had the dogs out for grouse this season at all. They aren't very happy with me right now, but that'll change in a couple weeks.

Very cool! I've only seen one spruce and I'm pretty sure I could have killed it with a stick. I need to get out soon and try to find a few grouse...
