I'm taking my daughter to fish the Kenai in early September. I'm bringing my longbow and looking for some decent trails we can hike and I can possibly get a shot at a grouse or ptarmigan (sp??) We're staying in Sterling and will be fishing with a guide on the Kenai one day. I plan for us to fish the Russian and maybe Deep Creek and the Ninilchik. We also plan to go down to see Exit Glacier so any information on areas near the Sterling or Seward highways that we can hike for birds would be great. I looked at Resurrection Pass but, really, I don't know how to tell what is good bird habitat other than spruce trees or high elevation low brush. Any help is appreciated.
