If you knew how much use and abuse I put them through, a nuke couldn't do much more to them.

I take really good care of the things I own. I don’t want to pay to warranty the binoculars of someone who doesn’t. I’d rather that money go to a quality product. If I screw up and damage them, I’ll pony up the money to get them fixed, as I should.

Swarovski repaired my spotter when the tripod mount threads got messed up for free. And expedited repairs due to a hunt coming up. Repaired my EL’s when the collimation was off and cleaned for free. Also replaced eye cups for free. If you abuse your stuff they shouldn’t be liable to repair it for free. I’ll keep buying Swarovski for sure , plus you know they’ll still be in business when the others are gone

Regardless the vortex image was not as good and the eyecups were busted in less than 6 months of light use. I could have got the vortex way cheaper, I still went swaro and have never regretted it

Vortex sells a HUGE range of glass quality, from Walmart awful to Swarovski SLC-grade (Razor UHD, not the regular Razor HD).

I don't think you can lump all Vortex in one bucket - those could have been $100 Crossfire kids binos.

FWIW I run Maven B series which have been tested side by side with Swaro SLCs and are near peers for half the cost. Plus no question, fully transferrable no-cost Vortex style warranties. Buy a used pair and save even more.

One of these days I'll buy some NL Pures, but right now I don't at all feel handicapped. If I were the type to spend half a day sitting on a hillside behind the glass it might be worth it, but I never sit still for more than 30 minutes.

I think it's generally a good thing that Vortex, Maven, etc. have pushed the industry leaders to improve their warranty coverage (look at Sig Sauer now copying the Vortex model). More competition means better and cheaper, with better peace of mind. Asian optics are catching up QUICK.

I don't own Swaros so really no skin in the game. I agree that if I damage them, or normal wear and tear, I should pay. If you took great care of the binos and they were never dropped, but notice the clarity focus isn't as it should be. So you send them in and they tell you the prism is knocked out of whack and they must have been dropped. You are positive they've never been dropped, as you take such good care of them, would you happily pay $400 for repairs on something you truly feel was no fault of yours? Therein lies the rub. If I owned Swaros, I probably would, but I sure wouldn't be happy about it.

That they are planning to build a facility in the USA in the next couple years.

I would send them, to them and see what they really charge you.

Year's back I sent Leupold a old scope to be fixed. They said they might charge me for the upgrade. They sent me a new scope back and thank me for the business. You just never know.

B.6 binos are pretty freaking good. Often compared to sworos, not quite there, but definitely competitors. To some, worth the minor improvement to buy the sworos, for me, the Mavens are amazing for the price and warranty.

I bought a pair of those for tripod glassing. I sent them back to Scheels for a refund before ever taking them on a hunt. They were bad enough in my yard.

You can buy Vortex and pay more up front than they are worth to help cover everyone else's warranty or you can buy Swaro and get a good quality set of glass and pay some of your own repairs.

Thats commonly stated - but its about sales/margins.

Swaro probably sells in 1 year what vortex does in a week.
