This is fire perimeters? The Almeda fire isn't shown there if so. The major factor with air quality down here is that when pollution or smoke settles into the valley it has amazing staying power. It's not so much that Medfords proximity to fire is high, it's that we catch a lot of smoke from elsewhere that lingers. Almeda was a bit different, since half of Talent and Phoenix burned down, but that was by far the nastiest air I've ever seen. Medford gets its reputation from winter pollution socking in the valley on top of the summer smoke too.

That area in NorCal, Horse Creek, Hamburg, to Scott Bar is where I grew up hunting. A lot of moonscape down there these days...

Yeah, didn't get a picture of the plume off lower sugarloaf to the north, it was impressive as well but not nearly as sinister looking.
Not until just before dark. It's still howling up here, shit is going straight to level 3

Yeah there's going to be some crazy spotting, who knows how far or where, you ready to roll out?
Nope! We're far enough West that we're out of danger for the most part. But keeping my phone on to help friends. I know at least one who's bringing there trailer here. Hard to burn 3 acres of wet green grass

There were structures half a mile inside orchards that burned in Carlton complex from spotting embers, or the apple sheds in Wenatchee from Sleepy hollow fire in 2015. Sounds like you're good for now though, hope for the best for your friends.
