Small Bullets (.224) and BIG game

Better clue to 10 shot group above. A legit 1” or less rifle is really great in my opinion. This is one of them and if I wanted to spend hours and hours in my basement messing with ammo it would be better but No thanks. 🙂

Goal was a rifle I could shoot a prairie dog in the head at 100m with every time.

Got the new barrel on the .223 and shot eight 5 shot groups as a quick test. It was windy, about 15mph and even so the largest group at 100m was 1.1” and those were at the end with a pretty hot barrel. Tried 2 batches of 75 eldm at .51 and .46 with 24 and 25 grains of varget. Tomorrow going to try a 10 shot zero with the 25 grain load. Was getting 2848 avg velocity.

Shot 60 vmax, 62 ttsx, 62 eldm-vt, 70AB and 75 eldm.

Sending 2 other rifles in to have barrels swapped by this guy.

If you piss off a bear and it charges you, a side benefit of your set up is that you can crush its skull with a swing of that monstrosity of a scope. When you decide to part with that scope, let me know and I might even be able to come up with a little more than I gave you for the LRHS. 😀

What would you do with that scope put it on your snub nose?

6.5 isn't a necessary a small bullet but I am in the final stages of getting a load worked up for a 109gr Absolute Hammer out of a 20" barrel. Ive been getting 3100 fps and it's a dream to shoot with the suppressor. The wife is going to be very pleased with her new setup.

This has been done for a hundred years. 220 swift and 22 250 wwre two common ones. From a 1 in 14 22 250 launches 60 grain bullets quite effectively. A good expanding lead bullet at these velocities will easily kill a deer within 300 yards.

Because we all like pictures and discussions. 6mm shooting 108gr eldm’s. Everything died just as quick and effective as if I shot them with a 300wm. All 400ish yard shots.

6 creed with a 16" barrel - It shoots 2770fps.

1 shot kill with the buffalo?
First shot was double lungs, bison hunched up and had his head hanging. Shot him again, right next to the first shot, bison started staggering and walked maybe 20 yards. From first shot, to buffalo falling over dead was less than 30 seconds, maybe 45. I was not the shooter on the buffalo, my buddy shot it, so I watched.
