Skull Cleaning PSA

I didn’t invent this, saw it on SM and had to try. I clearly didn’t trust the advice and suited up. Results-LEGIT!

Can you walk me through what he’s doing. It just looks like he’s blowing compressed air into the nose cavity. But how would you do this without busting all the bones?

He=Me

Air into the back brain stem hole pre boil.

This is brain removal but your comment has me wondering if it will work on the nasal stuff post boil.

Do you rot the horn sheaths off by sealing them up in a bag for a few days before boiling or use another method? Seems like that would really get the brains moving.

Would this work for deer and elk as well? I am only asking because I’m brand new to doing this stuff myself. Previously I paid to have this done.

I have more time these days to be hands-on and love learning new things like this.

The vids I saw to inspire this were deer skulls so I’m assuming works for any critter.

JFC what are you doing?! Gross.

Just put a piece of weed eater string on a power drill and blend them up and it falls right out…..

I did it on an elk this year, worked great. Picked up a cheap air gun. Keeps it from being all over my yard. I plan to use it on everything moving forward.

I’m not an expert but no, I throw the whole thing in the pot and cook the sheaths off.

That's what I do as well. I normally have to clean the skulls before I cross the border back to Canada so I need to clean skulls relatively quickly. It doesn't take long to steam them off if you have a pot big enough to fit the whole head in with a lid on.

I usually do the air compressor trick at home, but can't on the road so I normally get those brain juices all over someone's car wash (which I normally leave cleaner than when I got there).
