Ok I post about her here all the time, and for most of her life. She is a senior this year. She just got accepted to Bozeman today. Crazy how time flies. Anyway, she has been shooting with me since she was 6 and fishing since she was 4. We started "Hunting" together when she was 10. She gets multiple deer every year. It's almost time for big game. She shoots all year, but for deer, we always take her deer rifle and shake out the lint and cobwebs. Some time back, we built her a 7x57 AI from a Ruger American Gen 1 long action. A Shaw 24" 7.5 twist, no flutes. A Redfield 4x12 scope, the original Ruger stock and trigger, and a Limb Saver. I have never seen her miss or wound a deer, never had to take a second shot, and never had to track her deer. 7 bucks, 10 or 12 does. She shoots a 140 SSTX Barnes at nearly 3,000 fps.
She almost always shoots off sticks, on rare occasions over a pack, never off hand. All that said, we went out to do the duty today; poor day, but much like any hunting day: gusty winds over 25 mph and cold. And yup, cold bore the first 3 shots.

150 yards: a simple .57" group with two in the same hole.
I shot my deer gun, a savage 110 in. 358 Winchester. 225gr hammer bullet, 1 x 10 twist, 2500 fps-ish.
She kicked my BUTT. A .96" Not bad, but not as good.

Got to love it...

My 16yo daughter shoots smallbore and air rifle competitively. I coach her, but she outshoots me. It humbles you and makes you proud at the same time… but you did something better than me and still get her to hunt with you. Mine gave up hunting a couple of years ago

Love to see dads taking their daughters out shooting and hunting. My daughter is my favorite hunting partner and she is quite good at it. It's a special bond and something we both look forward to every year. She is 30 now and had to skip hunting with dad for the first time in 16 years as she is starting her own family. Moral of the story, keep them outside hunting and fishing with you at young ages and you will always have a huntn bud or at least one that wants to swap stories when you arent hunting together.
