OH HELLL NOOOOO...I guess if you can accept shade tree mechanic work, this is fine but damn that makes the machinist in me just about pass out.

You know that they make tooling to turn the OD of a barrel and thread it with a cordless drill, right??!!

Just because you can, does not mean you should. I get people in the shop that bring me stuff that looks like a melted Hershey bar that was chewed on by a rabid Rottweiler. They or a buddy "customized" it themselves....then brought it to me to fix it correctly. I just shake my head and wonder how this happens, like a lot more often than you think. You Tube!! Man those guys keep me busy.

I run CNC for a living.
Seen people bring in some strange stuff!
Then get pissed because their specialty one off part with the blueprint in their head is going to be more than $20 to make.
Not thinking about it's a business, it cost money to just turn the lights on. Never mind that each machine is over $100,000. Or that each insert is $17. The computer program that lets us model the part and tells the CNC what to do costs money for the licensing.
Add to that the employees want to be paid.

I've even told my best friend to find someone with a mill in their garage to do some one off stuff for him, we couldn't do it for what he wanted to pay.

LOL...even on a manual mill, some things just cost more than you think.
