I am considering purchasing a new muzzleloader this year and an thinking about the Savage 10 ML. I like the idea of burning smokeless powder and having a longer shooting capability to make up for my poor skills. Anybody shoot one of these? Love it? Hate it?

FWIW, if you have a savage centerfire rifle already they can, from what I've read, be converted to a smokeless ML pretty easily. Cheaper than buying one anyway.

Similarly, if you have an Encore or H&R Handi-Rifle barrels can be bought for them. I've long thought about picking up a sub$200 Handi-rifle and buying a smokeless ML barrel.

I actually like the idea of a break action over a bolt for a muzzy. No need for the action as it's not a repeater. Would keep the overall gun length down 3-6" over one with an action.

Thanks for the info NHY.

1Pointer- I was not aware of adding a smokeless ML barrel for a break action rifle. That is an interesting option.
